Present collection comprises musical notations of the songs recorded by Vladimir Berdzenishvili – a renowned choirmaster and singer, grandmaster of Gurian song – and his ensemble in St. Petersburg in 1935 (44 examples) and Moscow in 1937 (4 examples). The recording session was supervised by renowned Georgian scholar, philologist Ioseb Megrelidze. Rare of these examples is presented by only one version – in some cases there are even three or more variants of the song. It is important that almost every song, along with joint singing, was also recorded by separate voices, which is of great help for a song lover, professional performer or researcher. The archival recordings were cleaned of technical flaws as much as possible and, along with several songs revived and recorded by ensemble Basiani, were uploaded to the internet. These recordings are the attached to the collection as audio material and a performer may use them when studying the examples.
